Just received one, unsolicited, from W&M. Surprised me a bit, as I only have a 3.3/158, but will be retaking in September

if you are at/above the 25ths for a school, you should expect a fee waiver.bmathers wrote:Just received one, unsolicited, from W&M. Surprised me a bit, as I only have a 3.3/158, but will be retaking in September

Re: Unsolicited Fee Waivers 2017
Just checked Mich and I have a hidden waiver. Here's what it looks like:Dr.Degrees_Cr.Cash wrote:Yeah, my problem is that I already solicited once so I really don't want to go to them again about it. Whatever I got Duke's which means all my crs is correct I guess I'll just have to wait a little while to send it inpretzeltime wrote:same and same in regards to Mich. I think they will probably come through sooner or later, but I suppose I'll just hit em up in a few weeks if I still don't have the waiver...Dr.Degrees_Cr.Cash wrote:Has anyone successfully solicited waiver from Columbia? Online it says soliciting won't work, but I thought I heard someone who did.
Also is everyone seeing their mich waiver when they start? I asked and was told in almost no uncertain terms I would get one through CRS but still nada![]()

Pretty much this - schools give them out like candy.proteinshake wrote:if you are at/above the 25ths for a school, you should expect a fee waiver.bmathers wrote:Just received one, unsolicited, from W&M. Surprised me a bit, as I only have a 3.3/158, but will be retaking in September

Re: Unsolicited Fee Waivers 2017
Well on the contrary GULC turned down my request for a waiver. I had already received waivers from Duke, Mich, and UVA who are all ranked higher. Seemed confusing to me since my GPA is at their 25th and my LSAT is a couple points above the 75th.KMart wrote:Pretty much this - schools give them out like candy.proteinshake wrote:if you are at/above the 25ths for a school, you should expect a fee waiver.bmathers wrote:Just received one, unsolicited, from W&M. Regarding Chicago fee waivers: (1) Has anyone else gotten a hidden waiver? I'm not seeing it in the application landing page, and I don't have enough materials to preview my application. (2) If they email waivers, when do you think this email would be sent?brinicolec wrote:Hm, as far as Chicago goes, I've got nothin'... & nope, first-timer!proteinshake wrote:regarding #2, Chicago did the same for me. maybe they all do it like this now? not sure, I didn't get emails about fee waiver from either. are you a reapplicant?brinicolec wrote:proteinshake wrote:usually, yes. but mine was there as soon as a clicked the app - at the bottom is says "waived" and "$30" for the LSAC fee. this is probably because I'm a reapplicant and got waiver from both last cycle.poptart123 wrote:You only see these hidden waivers right before submitting, correct?proteinshake wrote:got a hidden Michigan waiver as well. LSAT between 25th and median, GPA between median and 75th. (retaking in Sept).
Three things: 1. Also waived! 2. I actually think Michigan must have just chosen to display their fees differently because it shows up on the first page after you select to start an app rather than at the end (which I appreciate lol). 3. Haven't solicited any fee waivers yet so they just chose me.

Unsolicited fee waiver from W&M, possibly because I added the state as an area of interest, or not.

Was the UChi waiver all the way at the end?

nope, just like Michigan. I got one last cycle so it probably just rolled over or something if that's what they do.brinicolec wrote:proteinshake wrote:between both 25ths and medians, non-URM, retaking in SeptBeads2017 wrote:What were your numbers if you don't mind me asking?proteinshake wrote:just realized I have a UChicago hidden waiver as well!

Is an unsolicitated fee waiver a good sign for admittance? I imagine it is, but I'm wondering how much of a good sign?

I gather that it really doesn't say much. Selectivity helps increase rank, so having a bunch of candidates apply that you can then reject is in their best interest...RamTitan wrote:Is an unsolicitated fee waiver a good sign for admittance? I imagine it is, but I'm wondering how much of a good sign?

Ooooooh that's great! & nope, no luck here, stats probably not high enough thoughbloomsday wrote:I was told it's free for all first time applicants!brinicolec wrote:Anyone either successfully solicit or receive unsolicited a fee waiver from GWU?
I'd also like to echo the UChi question...anyone have any luck? Trying to weigh if it could be worth waiting a couple weeks.

For solciting fee waivers consider this:
The schools know when you've started their application on LSAC's website.
Do you think it's better to have started their app and then solicit a waiver, or not to have started at all and soclicit one?
I could think of arguments for either way.
Curious to hear what y'all think/have heard.

You're overthinking it. Schools give them out like candy. Just ask.Helioze wrote:For solciting fee waivers consider this:

Re: Unsolicited Fee Waivers 2017
so I'm pretty sure fee waivers roll over if you're a reapplicant (at least for a good amount of the T14 so far). I've gotten waivers from UChi, UMich, and Duke even though I got no email about a waiver. when I clicked on the application, it said "waived" at the bottom (not like a normal hidden waiver where you have to complete most of it).

Re: Unsolicited Fee Waivers 2017
So, to confirm: the people who have the UChi waiver at the bottom of the start page are reapplicants/have rollover waivers from previous cycles?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
