I would be very surprised if apps for William and Mary dropped 25% this past cycle. I'm no expert, and perhaps Spivey can pitch in if he has any information regarding this, but wouldn't it be very hard for a school to have apps up 6% through January only to finish with a 25% decrease?

Then again, Vandy's apps were down 12% in January and apparently they finished with +11%. So I guess it could be possible. I was just under the impression that William and Mary was actually one of the few schools that hadn't seen a decrease in apps.

Such a large decrease (edit: in applications) at William & Mary is surprising because it had seen one of the larger rises in applicants from 2008-2013...an increase almost entirely undone just this cycle.

However, W&M and the schools like it are facing a big drop in applicants with the scores to hold last year's numbers. Only the top schools have real reason to prefer this cycle over last year's as more top scorers are actually applying instead of completely sitting out.

In short, a 25% decrease sounds drastic and may be a special case (though I have no idea what the specific reason could be given the rise in ranking and the propensity for people to desire higher ranking schools), but decreases in applicants and/or numbers aren't surprising at schools sub-T14.

Is W & M considered to be a good regional school that is worth attending with a good scholarship offer? What I learnt from this forum is that you should attend T 14 with some scholarship, or a good regional school with a very good scholarship, like 75% off. Is W & M this good regional school for Virginia? with ATL ranking dropping from 34 to 39?

With ATL ranking dropping, LSAT median dropping to 163, applications dropping, what moved W&M from 33 to 24 in USN ranking?
If you have to choose between W&M and ND (USN 26, ATL 17), isn't ND a much better choice?

WM is fine if you have a huge scholarship, ties to Virginia, don't care about Big Law and are interested in small law/state and local government gigs in the region. Otherwise, no. Also, weird thread to post this in.

I posted it here only because WM was just being discussed. I reposted this question on the main board, as I would like to have other people's input. Surprisingly many people are trying to figure out what school to attend at the last moment, deciding that the school is too expensive at certain price, or not a good fit for your goals. I am just trying to understand all of it a little bit in advance.
