Slavery isn't joked about a huge amount because there are very few funny jokes you can make about something that hasn't existed for over a century. Kinda why people don't joke about their horse and buggy. Jokes are typically about things people can relate to. You'll notice that black comedians joke constantly about racism and race sensitive issues. See my many posts about context.

Dave Chappelle joked about slavery and it was hilarious IIRC. I know you said many. The fact that jokes about slavery are widely off limits, if they are, doesn't necessarily mean they are morally repugnant; it could just be that we have gotten too PC because some people get too easily butthurt.

I'm not sure how my caring about women's rights came across as self righteous. Child abuse is joked about all the time - Catholic priest jokes, Michael Jackson jokes, all the Richard Pryor material about getting beaten as a kid. There's no topic that should be off limits for a joke
