Most everyone I talk to assumes admissions work the same as undergrad, where you're evaluated holistically. My family is trying to convince me to take an unpaid internship at a local 2-lawyer law office over a job waiting at a sports bar (which I'm pretty excited about - meet people, have real money, get treated like an employee instead of a kid, among other reasons) because they think it will help me get into law school. I have another friend that thinks he's a shoe in for any school he wants because he's been interning for an ADA for two years.

Probably because anyone saying that while going to a TTT (and probably most going to T14 as well) are fairly clueless as to what international law is and about careers in law in general.

I usually feel apathetic and hungry in in that situation, but tbf I feel that way in pretty much all situations.

Just to clarify, it bothers me because I'm sympathetic to the people who say it. It bums me out that people are going into shit tons of debt because of some misguided delusion that they're going to save the world. I've told people, "yeah... that's pretty competitive, I'm not really sure it's that easy to get into that..." and they blow it off like I'm an idiot. That's why it bothers me.

The poster explained his reasoning, but a lot of the stuff in this thread is people laughing at ignorance and taking pleasure in it. Saying you're "sick of" someone's ignorant decision can come across similar to saying you're sick of people going to UG and majoring in something that isn't dat dere alpha STEM degree.

For me, it's the same reason I'd be bothered if someone told me, "Hey, gonna pick a fight with a bouncer tonight" or "I'm gonna take my 401k and bet it all on black" if they don't understand it's a dumb idea. Sure you can sit back and laugh at their ignorance, but it doesn't make you superior and it doesn't help them at all.
