I was told that all letters should be received by "the end of the next week".
For those of us in NYC, it should be "sooner", though the admissions rep couldn't really specify how much sooner. She had no sense of how long this typically takes, but said that if anyone hasn't received their letter by "the end of next week", to please give the Admissions department a call.
I also asked what it meant for a letter to be "sent" and she said it had been mailed out. And I asked, sort of stupidly (good thing I didn't mention my name...), "like to the post office, or..." and she said, "to the NYU mail center".
So my guess is it'll will languish at the mail center for a day or three before it actually starts making it's way out to anyone.
I would still imagine NYC 12/3ers will get a letter tomorrow, but I'm guessing they won't get one today. And that means I won't get a letter until Thurs, at the earliest!

How is this thread so empty? Most of you are getting envelopes!

Well nobody is getting anything at the moment. I don't think anyone in here will see anything until probably Thurs-Sat at the earliest unless you live like, a block from NYU, and even then, still Thursday I bet.

Re: Official NYU Early Decision Waiting Thread
Hey guys, does anyone know if any of the "decision letter sent" group who are ED had below a 172? It seemed to me that for the RDs they worked from the high LSAT/lower GPA people down to the lower LSAT (168-170)/high GPA group (3.8X+). I'm wondering if they may do the same with the EDs. If so, I think for those of us who are ED and around a 170/3.9 should be hearing something soon. Anyone care to speculate on the likelihood of this possibility? Is this just wishful thinking?
Edit: Never mind, I saw that a couple of 169 EDers got their status change.

Re: Official NYU Early Decision Waiting Thread
Well, I sure hope people with 3.88s and 170s hear soon, for no particular reason. From what someone said in the other forum, it looks like ED waitlists/holds were sent on 12/9 last year and the next round of acceptances came on 12/14...almost makes you hope you don't get any news this week!NYker wrote:Hey guys, does anyone know if any of the "decision letter sent" group who are ED had below a 172? Yeah, as I've said all along (for 2 days if that's all along), I'm not really ecstatic or anything that I've gotten a letter as an ED candidate. It could very well be a hold or a rejection...

Yeah, a friend of mine with 3.9x and 168 had her status change to decision sent on 12/6 (I hit "reply" before I got to your edit, so, um...)NYker wrote:Hey guys, does anyone know if any of the "decision letter sent" group who are ED had below a 172? Don't know if folks in this thread have heard (or if everyone is over in the NYU 2011 thread already), but apparently someone called NYU admissions and was told that they haven't yet sent out anything other than acceptances so far this cycle.
If that's true, and I don't see any reason for it not to be, everyone with purple on its way to you currently is as good as accepted.
Just thought I'd pass on the (hopefully) good news.

True in every sense of the phrase! You need to start posting happy things once you get in. I'm determined that my envelope is coming today. I will use the force if necessary.mst wrote:

In the status checker, does it in any way indicate whether you applied ED or not? I did apply ED, but there's no such indicator in the status checker. It's making me a bit worried, especially as I'm still UR since 11/8

No, it doesn't say anything. Just fulltime JD. And they've been on top of calling applicants who ED'd to request their forms if they were missing (in some cases they even called for people who DIDNT ed!), so you should be OK on that end.jborn wrote:In the status checker, does it in any way indicate whether you applied ED or not? I am UR since 11/15. My fear is that they do next round of ED applicants for hold/rejection.NYker wrote:+1, when did you all go UR? 10/20 here.nyankees51 wrote:+1, hoping for some type of movement Monday!vicuna wrote:+1, sir.Hannibal wrote:Anyone else thinking they'll probably do another round of ED on Monday?
