It's an absolutely valid point, but if you look a bit deeper than the ostensible numbers that these BUSINESSES (yes, lawl schools are businesses, they employ teachers that all make <$100K a year) publish, you'll see the forest through the trees.qualster wrote:Ha ha.ccs1702 wrote:The problem with doing research is that all of the data have been manipulated. It's tax season, I do more than just place trades for clients.Me-a Culpa wrote: Not trying to be a dick, but "a small dose of reality on the clueless brain-dead Ally McBeal wannabees" and you're answering phones for a living? Not a lot of trading goes on after the bell closes on a Friday.

I don't want to be Ally McBeal. I want to be Corbin Bernsen's character on LA Law. That seems like a realistic goal.Me-a Culpa wrote:Not trying to be a dick, but "a small dose of reality on the clueless brain-dead Ally McBeal wannabees" and you're answering phones for a living? Placement stats are available in more than one place, you know. Here's one example: http://www.leiterrankings.com/j.wellington wrote:How would you people know what to do with your lives if U.S. New and World Report never existed? I'm genuinely curious.
Actually I think USNWR is less relevant than looking at the raw employment numbers, since USN accounts for things I personally don't care about, like class size, spending per student, etc.

+1. I wasn't trying to undermine your point. Was simply pointing out that it's next to impossible to find any straight-forward data, especially if it comes from the school itself.qualster wrote:Wasn't laughing at. Laughing with. ITT: TLSers make the exact same arguments, assumptions and blanket statments as in the 8,000 previous threads...is there really a point in giving these a title anymore?

Maybe the mods should create a sticky for job placement horror stories to go along with the general legal industry apocalypse thread. I'm largely resigned to these threads but it does irritate me that new posters think we haven't heard it all before.GATORTIM wrote:ITT: TLSers make the exact same arguments, assumptions and blanket statments as in the 8,000 previous threads...is there really a point in giving these a title anymore?

Yo yo!, you think this is a game?! You think this is a f-in game?! MTal is like Scott Bakula's character in Quantum Leap. He's coming back in time to save our lives.
