If I am quoting words of advice that someone gave to me in a different language, should I quote it in the language it was said and then write it again in English or just write it in English to begin with?
My Portuguese uncle gave me these words of advice "Aqui estão algumas palavras de conselho." Which in English means....
or
My My Portuguese uncle gave me these words of advice "Never give up on your dreams...."

Re: Sentences in foreign language?
"Aqui estão algumas palavras de conselho" does not exactly mean "Never give up on your dreams" in Portuguese. Anyway, on this case, I would just write it in english.

I would say it in the language and then translate for your audience.Anonymous User wrote:If I am quoting words of advice that someone gave to me in a different language, should I quote it in the language it was said and then write it again in English or just write it in English to begin with?
