Columbia Addenda/Gaps in education

Post by pleasesendhelp » Thu Sep 29, 2016 9:45 pm

There's a section of Columbia's application that calls for an explanation in gaps in education and then there's the supplementary document sections specifically for addenda. Do I do both at the risk of redundancy? Or, does filling in one suffice for the other?

Basically...
1. where do i submit addenda for low GPA due to medical issues?
2. where do I submit explanations for gaps in education?
3. is the supplementary section what people call a diversity statement?

maybe I should choose another career path :|

1. That probably goes to their supplementary documents section unless they have a specific place for GPA addenda.
2. If the gaps in your education are directly tied to your GPA addendum, then I would just have a quick sentence in the official section of the application that refers them to the addendum. No need to repeat yourself.
3. I think so. If there's no specific request for "How would you bring a unique perspective/background, etc. etc.", then it probably goes in the miscellaneous section.
