Editing Tools

Post by Anonymous User » Sun Mar 20, 2016 9:55 am

I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck hiring a personal editor to help ensure a personal statement is in perfect condition? Alternatively, has anyone tried using tools like Proofreading Tools or Grammerly to check their writing?

Those editing tools are not likely to be helpful. I'd second the friends and family. If you're still in school, you could have a professor look over your statement too. If you're concerned about dumb mistakes (your/you're, their/there/they're), etc., print it out, read it slowly and out loud, and then type it from reading it. Those are all things that help you give it a more critical eye.
