Where to get feedback?

Post by Anonymous User » Tue Jan 26, 2016 11:48 am

Does anyone have any suggestions for where to get feedback if you're no longer in undergrad? My 250 is about my family so I honestly feel a little uncomfortable showing it to most of them, and I've shown a couple of friends, but they've never applied to graduate schools or anything like that. Is there anywhere online or in-person, if I could trade with someone or even if I had to pay a little bit, to get some feedback and editing?

Nope.. I have posted on here but only ever get one reply tops, usually from someone who's just skimmed it.

Well "here" was going to be my first answer. Generally people are pretty good about assisting with statements. Have you gone through the "PS swap" thread and found people who are recently willing to read over it?

Yeah, I probably should have included that part in my original post haha. I don't know if I don't leave my essay up long enough or it's too boring or what but I usually get only one or no responses, even when I ask a followup to try to get more detailed advice, usually no one responds. But yes, I recently did contact a couple of people through the swap forum so hopefully they will respond soon! I don't know, I guess I just feel like it's so important that I won't be confident in it until multiple people look at it thoroughly and give detailed feedback. Thanks for your time and responding by the way! :)

That makes sense. Especially if it's Yale 250 though, I know I generally avoid those because I am not a strong enough scholar on Yale to know how to appropriately address them, which is why I avoid them (whereas I generally respond to PSes b/c, well, they're easier to rip). Good luck, though. I wouldn't pay for a service. I'd just try and get as many eyes on forums, or friends, or here as you can. You can contact your teachers from UG or even HS if you don't have anyone else. Some of them are more than willing to help graduates.

Same here. I don't even know what a Yale 250 is, so I skip those threads.
