Single Mom PS Topic

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Oct 14, 2015 11:06 am

I've been struggling with a PS topic. When it comes to the most powerful experiences that I've had in my life that point me to law school, my children come up. Do you think revealing my single mom status helps in terms of diversity or hurts due to perceptions about my ability to succeed with responsibilities at home? I've been a stay at home mom for years so gap in my resume is obvious and I feel like it needs to be addressed, but perhaps not in my personal statement. I'd appreciate any wisdom on this. Thanks so much!

I don't think it hurts you. Law school is a struggle that will require time management and dedication. If you can spin your SAHM qualities in that direction, it may demonstrate your potential to succeed as a student.

Thanks so much. I was hoping that was the case.
