Are the 55 Successful Harvard essays actually well-written examples?

I'm not saying I can necessarily do better. It's just...I'm having a really difficult time trying to read past the first paragraph. I also don't really get a good glimpse of the person who wrote it.

Are these essays "successful" because they were the ones written by students who actually got in, ofr would they be deemed good on their own (through a blind test, would you be able to distinguish which essays were actually those written by successful applicants?)
The compilers just send out an email asking for essays. Some people send their essays. 55 of those go in. I don't know how many they get but the only qualification to send your essay is that you have to have gotten in. Mine's in there, and I'm happy with it and think it's well-written, but it's definitely not like they chose the top 55 essays submitted that year.

Point of emphasis should be just how little admissions essays matter.

The writer's LSAT score & GPA should accompany each essay.
