I remember your last draft, and I think this is a big improvement! I'd use something a little less dramatic than "soul-crushing" and double check on the conventions for capitizing "senate" (I always capitalize, but I'm not positive if that's correct). Other than that, my only suggestion would be to add a sentence about why you think the law route is better than the legislative route - demonstrate that you have a sense of what it entails and that you realize there are challenges/disappointments in that, too. You sort of imply that you're interested in law because it has fewer roadblocks than working in the legisture, and that may not be the impression you want to give.
