I am considering two different topic about my personal statement.
The first is about my suffer from sexual abuse when I was a kid. And my struggle with bipolar disorder sister about domestic violence issue when I was in college. All those lead me to pro bono involvement in legal aid campaign.
Another is about my cross discipline achievement in law and business(I am international student who double major law and accounting). Mostly about the law firm internship, and international M&A competition experience. My concern is that this topic partially overlaps with my resume.
Wondering which topic will give me a better shot at law school. If the obstacle topic will not obviously outshine the latter, I would like to keep it secret instead of disclosing it to admission committee.

The personal statement is your chance to say what it is that makes you different and unique; something that they wouldn't know about you otherwise. In my opinion, if done right, I think the obstacle would be better. However it sounds like you don't want them to know about this, which is fine and completely understandable. That should answer your own question.

Thanks for your suggestion. I plan to hide the sexual abuse experience and stress on the domestic violence part.imKMart wrote:The personal statement is your chance to say what it is that makes you different and unique; something that they wouldn't know about you otherwise. I think the competition itself could be interesting if you Could talk about leaderships etc. If you did that topic I would just stick with the competition so it doesn't sound like you're listing your resume.
