This is no good. Doesn't make me feel any better about wanting to associate with you, as you seem to be making excuses, divulging too much negative info about the event, and are patronizing with your growth, plus "I am no longer in a position to hurt my wife" is possibly the creepiest thing I've ever heard.

In fact...this might be the worst C+F addendum I've ever read.

I will correct these items. I probably was a little frustrated writing this but I feel like my story never gets told. And though I respect the legal system, I think it was unfair to me.Clearly wrote:This is no good. Let me also explain what I meant by that statement. I meant that my wife is forever away from me so there should be no concern of me hurting her. Of course I wouldn't hurt her even if she lived next door.

All these things you are saying are the exact opposite of what you should be trying to get across. Your story, how bad your wife was, and how bad the legal system treated you are the main things to stay AWAY from.Anonymous User wrote: I will correct these items. I strongly advise you to consult with an attorney specializing in disciplinary defense. You need to determine whether your conviction will prevent you from admission to the bar in your state. Also, as others have said, the statement needs a rewrite. Given the severity of the conviction, you should state the facts without editorializing, show unqualified remorse, and demonstrate personal growth.

You're not going to sell that you now treat women with respect when you're denigrating your victim in the statement. And, you've included a lot of editorializing that's not good.
In addition, depending on your state law, you may be showing off your legal ignorance by pointing out that the statute doesn't cite butter knives as deadly weapons, since most relevant statutes don't provide an exhaustive listing of weapons that would be considered deadly.
I'm not going to join the others who have responded thus far in encouraging you to feign remorse, but you should definitely drop the defensiveness and justifications and simply state the facts. There's a reason your side never gets heard, and it's that it's not acceptable to threaten or attack another person with any weapon--any effort to make that understandable is simply going to convey that your judgment is off.

What a high bar you've set...

So typical of women. They get "somewhat assaulted" with a knife and next thing you know they're getting all overly-emotional about it.
It's good you've grown to be more respectful of women though. You should submit this as-is, I think schools will understand.

Really want to quote this one for posterity. Have a feeling the OP will be deleted sooner rather than later. Would that violate TLS ethics?

Obviously everyone here was wrong, and your C&F draft was not an indication that you have failed to mature and think things through since your conviction for assaulting your girlfriend.Anonymous User wrote:Jerks

Oh, man. I wish I could have seen this before it was removed. Sounds like a fun one.
