Basically I've overcome alot of obstacles in life so I have plenty to base my personal statement on but I'm not the type to dwell on misfortune. Basically I'm having a hard time writing anything that doesn't sound like "oh poor me". I want a personal statement that highlights my positives and isn't a pity party.
If I write good things, it feels too much like I'm bragging
If I write about my struggles, it feels like a pity party
Anyone else having this problem and how did you overcome it?

If you do talk about something you overcame, be honest, but also be concise. Describe how it affected you and it changed your mind/prompted you to act. Easier said than done.
