2 pages for a 4 page limit statement??

Post by zanardin » Sat Nov 09, 2013 7:50 pm

I have a solid 2 page statement, as many schools I am applying to have a 2 page limit. But, some schools have a 3 or 4 page limit. Should I expand upon my two page statement for schools that allow longer statements? Or do they appreciate conciseness even if they allow extra pages?

I only focus on one experience in my current statement, and I am afraid that trying to discuss more will make it too wordy and confusing.

any comments appreciated!

I just stuck to my two pages. Saves time unless there were 1-2 sentences that were especially painful to cut out. Then I might put those back in, but I wouldn't bother with trying to stretch things just for the sake of doing so.

I had an interview with Andy Cornblatt, Georgetown's Dean of Admissions, and he said the best thing you can do for your PS is "get in and get out." Make your point and don't go beyond it.
