Weakness as non-native speaker

Should I even touch on this subject in my personal statement? The argument I heard was that I should avoid drawing ad com's attention to it. What I was trying to do is to show that in spite of my background, I overcame this issue as evidenced by the fact that I work for 2 attorneys and both were very positive about my language abilities.
