I am considering writing my PS on wanting to work for the ACLU or a like-minded organization and what led me to that desire.
I am curious to hear people's opinions on whether that's a safe topic, a potentially dangerous one, or an outright crazy one. I really just don't know that much about the popular perception of the organization. What do you say?
(The school I want most is NYU. My numbers are right on the line.)

I think that's perfectly acceptable, especially for NYU.

Perfectly acceptable in the legal world, although you're right to hesitate because the ACLU is generally disfavored by political conservatives and could be a deal breaker in the wrong atmosphere. But for a law school application, all it advertises about you is that you want to do public interest law. NYU will approve.
