odd questions about applications

I have a few questions about the LS apps:

1. If the title of an employer is too long to fit into the box, is it okay to abbreviate? or should I just leave it as is?
2. Are honor societies/dean's list considered appropriate to put under the "awards and honors" part of the education section?
