Two page limit
Most of the people I've spoken to say that personal statements shouldn't be more than two pages double spaced.
I've written mine and it comes out to about 2.75-3 pages. I really would rather not shorten if i could. How firm is that 2 page limit? Any opinions?

Re: Two page limit
From talking to admissions people, it sounds like they are obliged to at least read everything that an applicant sends in. That said, they have to read A LOT of material, and brevity/the ability to follow directions are certainly both virtues. So your extra page better be pretty damn compelling if you're going to flout the directions.

Re: Two page limit
I'd really try to get it down to 2, especially if that's the limit indicated for the specific school you apply to.

I agree with the former posters. Also, try using "Garamond." It is a slightly smaller font than times new roman, and I think that it looks more professional. Try adjusting your word choices, and then taking some things out, if you must.

Some schools specify two pages. Others don't set a hard limit but you'll still piss them off if you waste their time reading more than they have to.
Berkeley is the exception. They like to read.
