I say its a great topic if you can mesh your interests in law school/career well with it. Seems like if you mention "law" in your PS it should be about your motivations to pursue it and not based on what you think it is. Since your PS be read by people who are more experienced in law than you are, I would avoid trying to focus on a field of law which you don't have personal experience in so you don't come off as uninformed.

Also, if you write about eDiscovery, make sure to focus on why you fit well (or will fit well) within the field, rather than what you think this field of law actually is. The latter comes off as too nerdy and technical.
