The Length of PS???

Post by agoodmanonce » Wed Aug 22, 2012 9:55 pm

Most law schools limit the length of PS to 2 double-spaced pages, that's around 500 hundred words. Do I misunderstand something or what? Isn't it too short to put in what's necessary? Thanks!

You must stake your claim COGENTLY and SUCCINCTLY.

So the PS should really be no more than 2 pages? What happened to those example essays lasting 4 or 5pages?

They were for Boalt.

Stay within the limits the school gives you. Otherwise you are telling them one or more of the following:

1. I don't respect your rules, and by extension your school, enough to follow your very simple instructions.
2. I'm too dumb to comprehend your very simple instructions.
3. I'm not a good enough writer to edit my essay down.

If your topic is focused and your writing is concise, two pages is plenty.

A couple schools allow four pages. 2 pages is actually a lot more than 500 words. You can use one inch margins and 11 pt font. I'm like two lines over 2 pages right now with ~900 words
