What is the typical length of the diversity statement?

Post by gabriella97 » Thu Aug 02, 2012 7:41 am

Hey fellas. I have a question. What is the typical length of the diversity statement and the "Why X" essay? One page, double spaced?

One page, double spaced should be your aim. Some schools may specify for more or less in their directions.

One page double spaced is standard.

I've read 1pg is standard as well (per the appreqs site), but that sucks. I just don't see how a quality DS can be packed into 1 pg doublespaced.

Do you guys think 2 pages doublespaced is a turnoff?

IMO, yeah, its a turn off. Your DS shouldn't be as long as your PS. Choose your words carefully and trim all the fat.

I can almost guarantee that you'll be rambling if you go over one page. Also, keep in mind that your DS will probably be allotted all of a 30 second look-over.
