Going over?

Post by FinallyGoing » Wed Feb 01, 2012 2:31 pm

I am sure this has been covered before; however I had some trouble locating the topic in a search.

If they are asking for a statement that is between 350-500 words, is anything over 500 acceptable?

Thanks!

I wouldn't go more than ~20 words over on a short essay like that.

Going over indicates that you either don't respect their instructions or you're not a good enough writer to trim it down.

(And this reminds me, I should do a final word count on my 300-500 word scholly essays.)

I wouldn't think so.

Conciseness is a skill that is reflected in your PS. Not following instructions only hurts you and while they might not necessarily count, it's best to err on the side of caution and trim it down.
