page limit and formatting question

Post by matt690 » Wed Dec 28, 2011 4:02 am

Hi,

I am currently working on my personal statement. Most schools appear to have a two page double spaced limit.

I would assume 2 page double spaced include standard margins and a 12 point basic Times font. I am currently at 1 page and a quarter single spaced and 2 pages and a half double spaced. Should I delete text, or can I make the font 11? Do you recommend keeping standard margins and 12 point font? Thanks so much.

11 point is fine unless specified otherwise, but no smaller.

Just don't exceed the 2 page limit. They read so much that additional length is likely to be an annoyance.

Thanks so much.

Even though it seems 11 pt is acceptable if it allows the essay to remain under two pages, do you recommend keeping it at 12 pt font and deleting some text? Is making it 11 font pushing it?

Thanks.

11 or 12 is fine, but I would personally cut stuff and use 12 point, since a shorter statement is easier to read and you can often tighten up your writing.
