PS topic

Right now I'm writing about cooking as a way of pursuing perfection. I fear that my PS is too cerebral, and not personal enough. I have a lot of difficulty using pathos to persuade, or writing about myself with any emotional attachment. My orientation is less emotional, more analytical, and I think writing with the aim of affecting my audience might be outside of my range. On the other hand, I know that this is just a personal hang up and not a technical limitation because I've written fiction in this mode before.
I have accumulated many many unique experiences, but I have always treated these experiences as secondhand. Most of my close friends come from different and/or less privileged backgrounds, so I have a lot of interesting experiences (e.g. in the 3rd grade I was friends with a 40yr old schizophrenic).
