Does this work for diversity statement?

Post by nodiggity » Wed Nov 16, 2011 3:28 pm

My father was an addict. Our relationship has shaped my perspective on the world.

Does this qualify for the diversity statement?

Also, when writing, do you have to argue how you offer diversity to the law school, or merely describe hoq you are personally different?

Thanks

I think it can work for a diversity statement, depending on how you treat this subject. If you can comfortably talk about how this experience has given you a more diverse experience, then yes.

Also, when writing, do you have to argue how you offer diversity to the law school, or merely describe hoq you are personally different?
You can't really describe the former without discussing the latter. But, to answer your question, you have to discuss a bit of both-- how your experience is diverse and also what you can offer to the admitted class with your diverse perspective.
