Creative Art As DS?

Post by NervousNelly » Fri Oct 28, 2011 5:44 pm

I'm not a URM by any stretch of the definition, but was wondering: what do you all think of a creative/performance art as a DS?

If I talk about how it makes my perspective somewhat different from the student body at large etc, is that worth it? Or is it just disrespectful of URMs?

Its not about being a URM, necessarily, but about bringing a diverse experience to your prospective school. This can mean, of course, having a diverse background or some other diverse circumstances that give you a different perspective.

But, you have think realistically about this-- can you truly present a diverse perspective as a performance artist? How does this make your own experience and background different than others? What diversity would you bring to the student body?

These are the questions you'll have to answer; see if you can answer these questions without forced/pretentious answers.
