Question

Post by Yellowtree » Sat Oct 01, 2011 5:17 pm

Do you have to say something about why you want to go to law school or can you just address why you would be a valuable addition to the school (unique experience, diversity, etc) and why you want to go to that school specifically (specific program, location, etc)

If you have something worthwhile to say, then write about why you want to go to law school. If the best you can come up with is "I want to go to law school because I love justice and love to argue", then its best to leave that out.

But I would definately write why you would be a good addition, and add a bit about why that law school is right for you...just try not to sound to superficial like "Oh I love school XYZ because its the top ranked in the state"

Good luck

You don't have to explicitly explain "why law school" or even mention law school in your PS, but if your PS leaves the reader actually wondering "why the hell is this person applying to law school and not [something else]?," you've missed your mark. Either answer the question or make sure it doesn't get asked.
