PS Spacing

Post by sven » Sun Aug 28, 2011 2:34 pm

If a school specifically requests 2 double-spaced pages, would it be really risky to use 1.8 spacing? If I convert the essay to PDF, can they even notice?

Or you could just take out the paragraph about watching a few good men and predicting how it would happen.

When you go through thousands of statements that are correctly spaced, you can notice the difference like night and day when just one out of thousands deviates. Don't mess with the double spacing. If anything, shift the margins a bit. I switched them to .8 instead of 1 inch and it didn't affect my admission results. But I agree that the best thing to do is just to edit it down. And if you think it can't be edited down any further, post the PS and we will prove you wrong

cut it down and I personally don't think it's going to matter if you have a line or two on the 3rd page.

Another key is to make sure you're making full use of the lines, i.e if you have a paragraph with one word on the last line then a paragraph break you've effectively lost an entire line for one word. Try to rephrase it so that that line becomes free.

I kept the spacing at double, but reduced the font size to 11. I think most schools would accept that, but make sure you check with each school's guidelines.

See if you can change the font-- Times New Roman takes up less space than Arial, and definitely less than Webdings.
