Letter of recommendation from an employer...
Suppose one has been working in a family business for a very long time, would it be acceptable to get a letter of recommendation from your "employer" if that person happened to be someone who you are related to? I ask this question because this "person" has had the same job for the last ten years and has never had another employer besides his related family. How would this work, and would it work?

I presume you share a surname? That would make it less than ideal, but probably not a big issue. Do you have anyone else that could write a reference? Any chance of getting two academic references and using this as your 3rd for schools that accept three?170hopeful wrote:Suppose one has been working in a family business for a very long time, would it be acceptable to get a letter of recommendation from your "employer" if that person happened to be someone who you are related to? If your grades are good and your LSAT is strong, LORs will play a very small part in the decision.

Yes, unfortunately we share the same surname.. and since i've been out of school for such a long time, getting any academic letters of recommendation will probably not be possible. I'm going to start putting out my feelers now, but my chances are not good. Hopefully, my LOR will not have a significant impact on the decisions rendered by the schools i'm applying to. I can only be hopeful. No pun intended. lol.

i was in the same situtation as you. I was able to contact some clients that I have worked with closely and got them to write one for me( i told them what I was doing- and i worked with them for a while. Luckily i had a LOR from a professor, but i think if you can get one or 2 from them you will be allright. Focus on the LSAT
