There are many elements to this that I did not enjoy including (from highest dislike to lowest dislike):
1.) Flow
2.) Organization
3.) Broad nature of story
I would recommend that you try to re-write it and not think about length, since you make explicit that you prefer more writing to less writing. After you've finished that draft, re-read it and decide which parts you find most favorable, then begin to cut down.
