I don't understand, if you have avoided this subject in your PS and DS, what essay/part of your application do you plan on using this in?

Optional essay of ethical dilemma for some schools. Some use it instead of a DS.

I don't think you should go with this topic because it doesn't sound like you are comfortable with it. I would pick something else that matters to you and work on making a clear, nuanced essay around that topic. If you want to talk about this aspect of your past in your application, then this essay wouldn't be a bad place to do it, especially since it would provide a certain amount of narrative distance. However, I don't think you need to talk about these things, and it really might hurt your application if it comes across as forced. Best of luck with your applications.
