A few thoughts:

• Even if you really did pay close attention to your dad’s work, it’s hard to believe that you got a lot out of that. I’m not saying you didn’t, but the average reader may doubt you, and that’s all it takes to lose their interest quickly. If you want your statement to be credible focus on a specific instance or case of your father’s that you followed. How did this turn you on to law?

• How could you possibly know that you have a much ‘fuller’ understanding of the role of law than the average citizen? I think your statement would be more credible if you said ‘My perspective was unique thanks to Dad.’

• You are fascinated with the legal system? Really? Come on. How many times a day do you think they see that?
