the first sentence in the last paragraph is strange. The story should lead to broader growth, not to your elite private school. Otherwise, its fun to read and, in my opinion, is certainly reasonable grounds for a DS.

I don't want to judge you, but you posted this online. So here it goes...

All I know after reading it is that 1) your parents are oddballs and 2) your experience at "an elite private school was not always easy."

This seems like the kind of DS that could harm your app.

Why did you write a DS for your father? Is he applying to law school? I'm trying to find out which of the following points make you diverse:
(1) you attended private school;
(2) your parents are from different backgrounds;
(3) your parents got divorced (I hope?);
(4) your dad is gay;
(5) your parents told you things they believed, even if they weren't true; or
(6) you had to consider lots of views and reconcile them to form your own (aka being alive and having intellectual curiosity).

Some of these, standing alone, could provide a DS, but you need to make the connection more expressly between these conditions and your development/diversity.

Just my opinion.
