GPA Addendum, Very quick, Please help! Forum

I had a death in my family my first semester at Duke, which significantly impacted me and resulted in a subpar semester. Since then, my grades have demonstrated a significant upward curve, and my overall GPA has improved every semester.

Is this good enough?

Are you asking whether you should write one?

Probably. You already demonstrate an upward trend so if you had a 3.5 every year besides freshman year when you had a 2.0 or something, adcomms can see that. It's your cumulative gpa that will matter most but you have a legitimate explanation so something short and simple without painful details is best.
