PS Length

Post by rockspaperjesus » Thu Nov 18, 2010 2:18 pm

I know the rule of thumb here seems to be 2 pages, double spaced, but I'm finding that at least half of the top 14 do not mention the length at all or even go so far as to say the length is left to the applicant's discretion. Others say 2-3 or 2-4. What are you guys doing in these situations? I know it is wise to stick to two pages when it says so explicitly, but for the schools that don't, I would rather say a little more.

if you would rather write a little longer, go for it.

but personal opinion: try your best to condense. we really don't know what kind of mindset these adcomms have when they need to push through dozens and dozens of essays and apps per unspecified period of time.
