Necessary to include a Diversity Statement?

Post by gtjackets530 » Mon Nov 08, 2010 6:29 pm

Would it be a huge negative to not include a diversity statement for schools that list it as optional? I've been spending the past few days trying to think of a good "diverse" topic, but my mind is blank on anything diversity-wise that could set me apart. I might be able to come up with something if I keep thinking, but just wanted to check and see if anyone had any advice about it.

If you're a random white kid no one is going to hold it against you for not writing a DS. Frankly this is something you should only submit if you can spin a very well crafted story about your diversity.

Ok that's what I thought...and that's true.

Thanks.
