Split Personality Disorder?

Post by fletchcon » Wed Nov 03, 2010 5:38 pm

So I'm struggling with my PS quite a bit right now, worried the topic might not be ideal and was hoping to get some feedback

My undergrad degree is in computer programming and I've been working in online poker for almost two years. But then on top of that I do a bit of work now and then as a make up artist, mainly for short films and theatre.

I'm trying to write a PS which talks about my interest in these two obviously quite different fields. I do plan on identifying the skills I've learned in both that I think will translate well into the practice of law but I'm worried an adcomm might just take it as an indication that I lack focus (which I guess I do to a certain extent!) and assume law is just another temporary interest for me. Or at the very least question my judgement using a PS to write about being a make up artist.

Two LSAT scores (163, 171) and no LSDAS GPA since I got my degree here in Ireland (Transcript was evaluated as above average)
Would love to get into Columbia, but more realistically I'm looking at U Michigan, Cornell and Georgetown.

What do you guys think? I know a lot of it will depend on how well I can write it, and the direction I take it in, but do you think it has potential or should I come up with something else?
