anyone ever gone over the PS page limit?

Post by Korlath » Sun Oct 31, 2010 2:37 pm

The schools that I'm seriously considering all require 1-4 pages. Some of my safe schools, though, limit the personal statement to 3 pages. I went ahead and typed one that's exactly 4 pages before I realized that, though. Would it be rude of me to submit my 4 page personal statement to them? Or are they usually understanding about these things.

If they have explicit rules, you should follow them. Brevity is a virtue.

i wouldnt...and really, 3-4? all the ones i had to submit were 2 haha.

go edit down the 4 to a 3. while it may not be an auto-ding, it'll prob hurt you to some extent...and your PS, i doubt, is so enthralling (iunno maybe it is, you make the call) that that extra page would be the reason they admit you.

think about what you just said. do you really think adcomms are going to look favorably upon you if you can't follow a simple instruction on a law school app. stick to the guidelines.

Actually, I think it might be...I dunno. Wanna read it?

i was actually trying to be nice (or simply facetious) -- 99% chance that extra page is not a make-it-or-break-it thing haha

i would read it, but you missed my 'editing mode' last night when i read through a few PS's on TLS and commented...now im burned out from reading any sort of paper (not because of one or two TLS PS's but because i just had to write my open memo all night last night lol)

All right, that's cool. Trimming it down is turning out to be easier than I thought. :P
