gay issues?

Post by hshipley » Tue Oct 12, 2010 8:01 am

My brother came out that he was gay a few years ago and his struggle finding work, showing faith, and countless other problems, like never having the chance to marry is what sparked me to look into social injustice and ultimately realize what I wanted to do. Is this too touchy of a subject though to write a PS about. I am not worried so much about the person reading it but the views of the school itself.

Nah, your brother could definitely use that as a personal statement topic.

I agree - your brother can use this as a PS, but you shouldn't - not for political or social reasons, but because it's not your story. It may be okay to allude to it, but I can't imagine it would be a good overall thesis to allow the AdComm to know who you are.
