Trying to decided if an addendum is acceptable in my situation:
I'm bringing a 2.29 into my applications, so I feel like should explain it a little bit. Basically throughout college I focused entirely on my work at the radio station and newspaper, to the detriment of my classwork.
I know this is not a good "excuse" per se, because these weren't things out of my control. But I sort of want to let them know that my GPA didn't come from partying all the time or being a dummy, and I actually was productive. For some reason I also feel like I should man up and acknowledge a GPA that stands out like a sore thumb.
So would a four or five sentence addendum along those lines be helpful? Or should I basically draw as little attention to the GPA as possible?
Thanks for the help.

That wouldn't be a very good addendum; don't write one.

A GPA that low won't be helped with any addendum, especially not one that poor. But, an addendum can't hurt you any worse than your GPA, so you might as well write one. You might get lucky.

Addendums are really more due to something out of your control. This was due to the OP's own terrible judgment. Best not to highlight that.moopness wrote:A GPA that low won't be helped with any addendum, especially not one that poor. The stuff with the paper and the radio station will be on the resume anyway.

I agree that you shouldn't write an addendum for this. However, I think you could highlight the radio and newspaper work that you did during undergraduate in your application. If you have been recognized for your work, gotten any awards, articles been published (I have no idea of any of this happens with either of those but I'm just guessing...) then you can highlight these positive aspects that show your commitment and that you're not "a dummy".rad law wrote:Addendums are really more due to something out of your control. Also, get a good LSAT score.
