Outsourcing personal statement? seriously?
So I've been reading the TLS forums for awhile now, tons of helpful tips here, I take the LSAT Oct9th, and am just beginning the law school application process myself. For awhile now I've been picking up freelance writing work on oDesk, and its not a bad way to make extra money, plus I figured all the extra writing would help prepare me for the amount I'll have to do in law school, regardless, I stumbled across this job posting today and thought you guys might enjoy it....
"Job Posting:
Law School Personal Statement
I want to hire someone who is excellent at writing. I will give the topic to write about, and this person must have a tremendous vocabulary, as well as the ability to have different styles of writing. You will not be able to copy and paste someone elses work because i have the program that can find out if you plagiarized. This must be in your own words.
Topic: Describe any life experiences that led you into the career of law, or how these experiences would make you an effective lawyer.
I want humor in the writing also once i hire you i will give you a few topics i want to touch up on. Will be directly working with you on this project.
If you have past work of sample essays that you wrote that would be great. I need to see that you are an excellent writer"
I'm assuming this is for real. How asinine is that? Or is this something people actually do? Can I just have a few drinks, record myself talking about myself, ship it off to a ghostwriter and have a stellar personal statement in a few days.....

Don't. If you want to go to law school, don't. If this guy gets busted, you will get busted and this kind of intellectual fraud is exactly the kind of stuff that will fuck your C&F.cp320703 wrote:so do i apply for the job then? i feel like finding out more about this would be nothing but hilarious, i'm also kinda curious how much he's willing to pay for this....

That is some funny shit man. If the guy is putting this much effort into finding a ghost writer for his PS, I wonder why he doesn't just write it himself. I mean, what kind of person would do this? Its almost worth doing just to find out about this guy.

If he is too lazy to write his own personal statement, how is he ever going to get through law school?
