List of PS lengths?
Hey all,
I'm wondering if there's a list anywhere of required PS lengths for the T14. Since most of their apps aren't up on LSAC yet, I'm having trouble getting this info... (Or is there some obvious place I'm not looking?) I have a 3-page version and am wondering if I'm going to need also to have a 500-word version.
Thanks.

Yes you will, most applications want a 2 page, 11/12 pt. font essay. Berkeley allows up to 4 and some other schools have different length requirements though.bedefan wrote:Hey all,

For some reason I think appreqs is a little off so make sure you check with each school's requirements when it comes available on LSAC

Re: List of PS lengths?
here's an incomplete list that i've compiled from the respective schools' sites
Yale--250 word essay; PS has no explicit length (that I've found, at least)
Harvard--2 pages, double-spaced, 1" margins, 11 pt font or larger
Stanford--"about 2 pages"
Columbia--2
Chicago--"generally, 2 to 3 pages is sufficient."
Berk--2-4 double-spaced pages
Penn--2 pages, double-spaced
Michigan--"The length of your personal statement is up to you."--probably shouldn't be more than 2-3 double-spaced pages, since they give optional essays

So is doubling spacing the norm?

Double spacing is the norm.
And appreqs isn't entirely accurate. I know because they have Cornell as beginning to accept apps Sep. 1, when they were accepting them by the time I submitted mine last week. I'm sure there are other mistakes on there as well, though for the most part it's pretty accurate I think.
