I am from Pakistan. I have done ACCA (a professional accountancy qualification) and now I have given 2nd year papers of LLB(hons) from University of London external programme. I have a work experience of three years from an internationally acclaimed audit firm and also 3 months' experiencce of a Law chamber. Currently I am applying for LLM in Commercial Law in Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Collumbia, UPenn, Oxford, Cambridge, LSE and KCL. Can you please guide me on how I should construct my personal statement. I am thinking of writing over my future career plan as a Commercial Lawyer who is trying to introduce Environmental Laws in the business and corporate field of Pakistan.
My opinion regarding personal statements is that they should be more focused towards future goals rather than past achievements i.e. they should reflect more vision of the author than his background.
Furthermore, Personal statements should be more clear and open rather than filled out with difficult words and idioms or parapharses. They should be more enjoyable and easily assimilated than so unique that the author's own opinions and understandings are left in the mist.
I don't know how people perceive personal statements but I have my own views which can be contradicted.

It's all good and well that you have an understanding in regards to how you wish to compose your PS. But what matters is the product you are able to create with that understanding in mind. Construct your PS so we can assess whether or not you've done so in an effective manner. That's the only thing that matters and its a lot more effective than anyone going in circles about what's the best way to create a PS. Just create one and then tear it apart.

I am reading some personal statements but am a bit confused about whether the topic which I have chosen will eventually make the desired impact upon the admissions commitee or not.
