Did you get into a "reach school" using a risky PS? What was it about? Do you think this made the difference?

I know someone who did, but she also got rejected by a lot of schools that should have accepted her. Sometimes risky statements pay off, but I wouldn't chance it. If I were you, I would focus more on the quality of the writing and not just the topic itself. A good writer can make an OK story far more interesting than a an edgy story. As a future law student, they are interested in how you write- so just write whatever will demonstrate that you can write well. Good luck

I feel like if you are going to go risky, do it when you are WL. That way you really have nothing to lose.

Exactly the opposite, I got into reach schools with a safe PS.

Congrats on getting into a reach school with a safe PS!

Therein lies my dilemma. I think I am going to end up writing an overcoming adversity PS, but I don't know how far is too far. I feel like there is a big gray zone there. I created one and it broad brush-strokes over my life but I don't know if I should pick a specific event (give it some detail) and go from there. :? "Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and I..." (I am really beginning to think Frost had to be talking about law school, lol)

I really don't know which would fare better. I feel like I have a great PS that I can use for almost any school; BUT I plan to blanket the T-14 and don't know if it is "the one" if that makes any sense at all.
