Sack up.
Own your PS, you wrote it.
If you are rethinking LS because of a little constructive criticism. This is not the career for you.

I've been rethinking LS for awhile to be honest.
I hear Mickey D's is hiring history majors who can't take criticism. look into it.

Then don't fucking go. No one here is going to talk you into it. If you don't go that's just less competition for the rest of us.Mad_Twatter wrote:I don't make the rules, man, I don't make the rules.bergg007 wrote:Sack up.

If you're not 100% sure about LS, work for 2 years and then think about it.

So edit it again? Or, if you like it as is, use the damn thing. We aren't the ones who decide where you get accepted to.Mad_Twatter wrote:I did edit it before I submitted it here. Even though I am doubting LS, it is still my best option.
Taking on >100k in debt for something you are doubting even wanting to do is not your best option.

Are you obsessed with perfection? If so, that's a bad characteristic to have coming into LS. You will find, it doesn't exist. If you're crying over a PS being criticized on TLS you're going to be miserable if you go to law school.

I thought OP said that all criticism was welcomed? I think most people were posting with the goal of sincerely trying to help you. I thought it would make you feel good that people are willing to spend their time to give you advice?
Don't take any of this personally, even though it is your PS so it might feel that way, none of the comments are directed at you or your life. The comments will make the PS that much better. Why do you care about criticism if it will help you be the best? You have a strong personal story about how a famous trial changed the life of your town. This is a great topic. Just fix it already and be happy.
If you posted thinking people would say, "wow this is the best PS ever, I have no comment", you were mistaken.

Re: The only PS about evolution you will ever read...
it's just a fact that it's much easier to criticize writing than to write something good. I'm not terribly happy with the PS I've submitted this cycle. Your essay has a lot of things going for it - good theme, good knowledge progression, typically correct and rhythmic writing. You just need to edit and move from philosophical to personal.Mad_Twatter wrote:And you tore it apart!d34dluk3 wrote: This was one of the better PSs I've seen on here. Re: The only PS about evolution you will ever read...
I'm a catholic and I have to say I like the essay. It's well written and I get that you're passionate about the subject. However, depending on who you get as your Ad Comm, you're going to be hit or miss. Some people might not agree and auto-ding you. Also it's well written, but it doesn't show me at all why you'd be a good lawyer or good alumnus one day to the school. So, you struggled with your faith, big deal. So does 90% of the population. You didn't overcome adversity or anything.
I think you are a great writer and you seem passionate, but at the same time I don't want to admit you off that essay. Also, just know to tread softly with that PS. People may get offended or whatever, you don't want it hurting your chances if you get unlucky with your Ad Comm.
Btw, nice name, Skins is fucking dope. (The UK version of course)

sparty99 wrote:A definiton of the Scopes Trial would be nice....Like I mentioned, not everyone on the admissions team has a legal background.
"Scopes Trial, which ruled it is unlawful to teach evolution."
"I want to contribute" - this is a very weak last sentence.
I'm sure people have already called you out for this, but you're acting as if the Scopes Trial was some obscure case that only someone with a legal background could know. In fact, it's a very well known historical event. Anyone who has taken US history in high school should know about he Scopes Trial, just like they should know about Brown vs. Board of Ed. Look it up on wikipedia.
OP: Don't elaborate on what the Scopes trial was. It would be a waste of space, and I have no doubt than any qualified admissions officer will recognize it immediately. Just leave that part the way it is now.
