Re: ITT: North EA's to Cornell before midnight
When I got the complete e-mail, it said "Your early action application is complete!" I think that was the first indication of the app being EA. So you could wait to see if you get that notification. Best of luck!Br3v wrote:you should seek advice as to how to best approach the admissions people to see if this counts as on time or not. You dont want to draw attention to the fact that it was last minute, so maybe there is a way to see somewhere if it says you are an EA applicant or not?

It'll be a while before I get the complete e-mail (the "must be complete by" deadline is November 15) because I'm pretty sure Cornell has to request and LSAC has to sent my CAS report in order for an app to be complete. The problem is that it needed to be submitted by November 5.tsr92 wrote:When I got the complete e-mail, it said "Your early action application is complete!" I honestly don't think it'll make or break your application, but you may have to wait longer for a response. Write them an email and say sorry. Either way, they'll give it serious consideration. Hope you get in.

Here is what Cornell says in the FAQ section of their site:Br3v wrote:what is the benefit of EA anyways?

DO I RECEIVE MORE FAVORABLE CONSIDERATION IF I APPLY THROUGH EARLY ACTION?
We apply the same admission standards during early action and regular decision processes. However, the Early Action applicants are the first applications reviewed, which means more seats are available at that time.
WHAT IS THE EARLY ACTION PROCESS?
The Early Action process is a non-binding, early notification process. In order to apply through the Early Action process, you must:
Submit the application form and fee by November 1.
Make sure that your file is complete by November 15.
We will send out our decisions by mid to late December.
Obviously Nov. 1 became Nov. 5 after Sandy.

Re: ITT: North EA's to Cornell before midnight
I hope so. I did more thinking about this than sleeping last night, and here's what I figure: there was no way that they would have accepted my 3.35/168 outright, even with EA. They would have wait-listed me or rolled me over to RD. So, I don't think missing the deadline will have changed much -- my acceptance, if I were to be so lucky to receive one, would undoubtedly have come at the end of the cycle and after they were certain that they needed my numbers.
So, on the off chance that they consider it EA if I go complete by the 15th, I'll be sure to meet all the requirements to do so in the next few days (Dean's certification, CAS report, stuff like that). If it isnt considered EA, I'll then take the time to send updated, more polished versions of everything and wait patiently for the slow Cornell admissions machine to churn out decisions.
Oh well. Last night was pretty fun. Thanks again, dudes.
Oh yeah, quoted for this thread:

I still need comments on it because I suppose I'll probably have to send in at least one more app before the cycle's over.
