The photos and the cash are in the mail. Getting ready for amazing three years.
Anyone else? :D

Preferred housing - Gropius.

Looking forward to seeing you there! I am looking forward to finding out which professors will be teaching my 1L section.

I'm married and will hopefully be able to find a nice two-bedroom off campus.

sutochan, I'll be doing the same (getting married in July, looking for 1 or 2 bdrm). We're heading to Cambridge this Friday to scope out apartments for 8/1. When do others plan to move in?

Plan for today: Take passport photos.

Yeah, we should get TLS shirts or something.
I was personally blown away by Warren during the ASW. Way better than any of the faculty at Chicago even. It'll be great to take a class with her.

i dunno...if found the socratic method demo to be unnecessarily theatrical and manic. I felt that most people who got answers wrong or misspoke only did so because they were caught in a warren whirlwind and flubbed on the spot. And despite this machine-gun pace, we still only managed to eke out the facts of the case over the course of fifteen minutes, because all the whipcrack snappy dialogue eventually adds up. Things only really got moving towards the end of the class

Count me in!

I applied to HLS dorms as well as Harvard Affiliated housing. We'll see what happens. We should be learning our window to view Harvard apartments tomorrow.

By the way, Ogletree's mock class was good, too.

I also thought Ogletree's mock class was outstanding. I sat in on Feldman's too, which was pretty amazing. Anyone who is looking into Harvard Affiliated care to share when their window is? I am trying to figure out if I'm early or late (end of May).

My "view" window is 6/9 and my "select" window is 6/11. The subject line of the email I got said "Window 7".... I'm assuming this means I'm in the seventh group to pick. It's kind of hard to interpret what this means since I don't know how many are in each window, but...I'm guessing Window 7 can't be all that great. Gropius, here I come! :?

Just sent in my deposit today. I got window 5 for Harvard Affiliated Housing, does anyone know how many windows there are in total? Looks like I'll probably be Gropius-ing it up too...

I think April 30 is the first select window.

I got Window 10 (June 30 - July 3). Bleh. I'm hoping to have secured an apartment by early June.

Why Hastings over the strangely popular gropius?

it's a couple hundred bucks more a month, but it's a lot nicer, and the whole having a living room thing is really appealing to me. I mean, if I'm going to live on campus, I want to have some sort of space besides my bedroom to call my own.

Did you get the first window for Harvard Affiliated Housing, Kevin, or are you going the independent route?

It looks like it is about $450 more a month. Since my current rent is less than that, it seems like a pretty big price difference. I guess that is just my relatively small town perspective coming out though.

yeah I guess 450 more than the smallest gropius room, but that just might be too small...plus my perspective is coming from nyc/sf....

Still, you're right, gropius is the most economically smart choice, and I may well end up there....

going to look for independent housing...looking for a studio or 1b big enough to fit 2 (me and so); hoping to keep it under $1500. I just want to be within biking distance (10-15 minutes tops). what neighborhoods should i be looking at? I'm gonna be in the northeast all summer and should have ample time to check out places...

Condor: I'm no expert on the boston area, but maybe check for apartments in cambridge or somerville. The latter is certainly within 10-15 min by bike, and can be significantly cheaper than the harvard square area. I think the two main squares in somerville are porter and davis, so it might be worth a look...

Here is what I was told by someone familiar with the area, "MassAve, Chauncy St, Langdon St, Everetet St, Wendell St are all only a two minute walk from HLS." HTH

Those all sound like good options. Mass Ave, however, is very long. I've been looking at maps to figure out what's close to the law school. Plug "1563 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA 02138" into your favorite map software and zoom in. Follen, some of Kirkland and Cambridge, Mellen, Rutland, Shepard and Hammond are all quite close as well.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
